Heavy duty transportation and storage tanks, pre fabricated \ngarages and houses, garage doors and components, farm implements, \nstructural trusses and panels, and plastic extrusions, are manufactured\n here along side horse harnesses and buggies. \n\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\n\t\t\tLocal machine shops provide the quality parts and equipment repair necessary to keep Arthur’s businesses up and\n running. Many of these manufacturers have grown from cottage industries\n to businesses of regional and national stature, a testament to the \nnurturing entrepreneurial environment we strive to maintain in Arthur.\n\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Arthur has two employers of more than 600 persons each and\n numerous smaller employers with a total industrial workforce exceeding \nthe resident population.<\/strong> Add the retail and professionals in \nArthur and you can see that many people find Arthur a great place to \nlocate their business or to find a job. \n\nEasy delivery access to interstates, rail, and air, coupled with the \nskilled labor force available make Arthur a great choice for business \ndevelopment.\n\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Transportation:\nBusinesses in Arthur that ship products nationwide have easy access to rail, interstate, and air transportation<\/strong>.\n A major rail artery runs through town, so many of our locally \nmanufactured goods go to market via rail. Products also are shipped \neasily by highway. Arthur is located just 10 minutes from I-57, which \nconnects to three other nearby interstates. Business travelers have a \nwide choice of flights through three regional airports within 45 minutes\n drive, served by major commuter airlines connecting directly to \nChicago, St Louis, Indianapolis, Detroit, Minneapolis and other Midwest\n cities.\n\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Business Resources:<\/strong>\nArthur provides small and medium-sized businesses with everything they \nneed to prosper including a favorable economic climate, visionary \nleadership, and plenty of room to grow. Natural gas and electricity are \nplentiful and economical, and help keep the costs of doing business low.\n Labor costs are extremely reasonable as well and are projected to stay \nthat way.\n\nArthur is served by three banks. The oldest, and only locally owned is \nArthur State Bank. The Arthur Community Bank and a branch office of the \nCentral Illinois Bank provide competing banking services to the \ncommunity.\n\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The future needs of business always are foremost in the minds of \nour community leaders many of them entrepreneurs themselves. For \nexample, when new water and sewage systems were implemented, leaders \ninsisted on designing them especially for fast and easy industrial \nexpansion.
